이준호 총영사 면담 — 노스캐롤라이나 경제 협력 논의, 한인회의 역할

8월 25일, 대 랄리지역 한인회는 랄리를 방문한 이준호 애틀랜타 총영사와 면담을 갖고 노스캐롤라이나의 한국 기업 유치 전략을 논의했다. 이 내용은 한국일보 기사(1016472)에도 소개되었다.

총영사는 최근 주지사·상무관과의 미팅을 언급하며, 한국 기업 투자를 확대하기 위해서는 주정부 차원의 인센티브 강화가 필수적이라고 강조했다. 현재 한국 기업의 미국 진출은 조지아를 중심으로 빠르게 증가하고 있지만, 노스캐롤라이나는 지원이 부족해 경쟁력이 떨어진다는 점도 지적했다.

이에 박시영 회장과 한인회 임원진은 지역 내 한국 관련 인식 확대와 네트워크 강화의 필요성에 공감하며, 문화·비즈니스·교육 등 다양한 분야에서 한인회의 지원 역할을 더욱 강화하겠다고 밝혔다.

대 랄리지역 한인회는 앞으로도 한국 커뮤니티의 존재감을 높여 노스캐롤라이나가 한국 기업에게 매력적인 투자처로 자리 잡도록 힘을 보탤 계획이다.

On August 25, the Greater Raleigh Korean Association met with Junho Lee, Consul General of Atlanta, during his visit to Raleigh to discuss ways to expand economic cooperation in North Carolina. The meeting was also highlighted in the Korea Daily article (1016472).

Consul General Lee shared insights from his recent meetings with the North Carolina Governor and the Department of Commerce, emphasizing that attracting Korean companies will require stronger state-level incentives and support. While Korean investment in the U.S. continues to grow rapidly—especially in Georgia, where major projects are accelerating—North Carolina still lacks sufficient support, making it less competitive in drawing new Korean businesses.

In response, President Siyoung Park and the association’s leadership agreed on the importance of raising Korean visibility and strengthening local networks. They expressed their commitment to expanding the association’s role across cultural, business, and educational initiatives to help position North Carolina as a more appealing destination for Korean companies.

The Greater Raleigh Korean Association plans to continue building community presence and partnerships that enhance understanding of Korea and support future economic opportunities in the region.
